Sarasota, FL (PRWEB) December 20, 2013

A keynote address by Marc Freedman, founder and CEO of Encore.org, an outstanding non-profit supporting encore careers for older Americans, will open the Seventh Annual International Conference on Positive Aging, being co-hosted by the Institute for the Ages and Fielding Graduate University in partnership with the Life Planning Network. The conference, to be held February 9-12, 2014 at Sarasota, Floridas Hyatt Regency, is a highly interactive gathering of diverse leaders shaping the future for older adults throughout the world. Susan Stamberg, special correspondent for National Public Radio and former co-host of NPRs award-winning news magazine, All Things Considered, will deliver the closing keynote.

The 2014 conference theme is Positive Aging Transcends: The Voices of Innovation and Community. It is aimed at highlighting the organizations main areas of interest: wellness, creativity, transitions and community, along with a new, fifth topic, technology. The events structure mirrors the vision of the Institute for the Ages: catalyzing innovation, engaging communities and evangelizing positive aging.

We look forward to welcoming distinguished leaders in aging for what will surely be a series of exciting and thought-provoking conversations on the myriad ways Americans can make the most out of their pre- and post-retirement years, said Tom Esselman, president & CEO of Institute for the Ages. Sarasota has the oldest large population in the U.S. making it a geographic and demographic epicenter critical to the future of aging. We believe we have an ideal alignment of demographics and the leadership required to advance and accelerate innovation in positive aging.

Professionals from established and emerging businesses, academic research, governmental policy, entrepreneurship and social service will gather together for two and half days of breakout sessions, keynote presentations, workshops, tours and social events. The program is designed to offer attendees ample opportunity to network or to meet in small groups as they fill their days with sessions in their areas of interest.

Presentations are organized by the five main topics; they address issues and trends in healthcare technologies, housing and environments, life transitions and the psychology of aging, human performance and positive approaches to the care continuum, to name a few.

Registration for the conference is open, with Early Bird rates offered through December 30. Tickets may be found online at http://www.positiveagingconference7.eventbrite.com.
