Quite a few men and many women can relate to being guilty of slathering themselves with body creams and perfumes to try to smell their best throughout the day. It is a common practice for many to load up on their favorite scents by rubbing them onto their arms and legs to ensure that the fragrance will last all day. Experts can dispel those myths and provide some scientific understanding of how to best use our fragrances by employing the knowledge of how to strategically apply our favorite scents.
According to many pundits in the industry, it is wise to concentrate our efforts with some savvy about the best spots to apply fragrance. Many people already know the key pulse points such as the wrists and behind the ears; however, there are some other areas that can also be very effective such as the temples, the base of the throat, behind the knees, in the crease of the elbow and between the chest area; where the natural warmth of the skin can allow a slow release of the many notes in the perfume.
We can see according to this new information that spreading our fragrance all over our bodies isnt necessarily the wisest use of our favorite fragrances. The smell may initially be too overpowering and it will probably wear off rather quickly. As the pundits have explained, the areas on the body that tend to heat up during the day (the pulse points) are those areas that will allow a fragrance to continually release its wonderful odorous effects throughout the day, so these are the areas that we want to focus on. Now how do we begin?
It has been noted by some experts that those with oilier skins tend to have a greater ability to have fragrances last longer. So, especially for those with drier skins; layering scents with body creams and/or bath oils is a great way to generate a slow continual release of a fragrance without it being overpowering and possibly offensive to those with a very sensitive nose. The last thing we want to do is to offend someone.
It has also been said that immediately following a shower, when the pores are open and receptive, the fragrance has a better chance of being absorbed by the skin and will therefore last longer.
The to do list for applying a fragrance may look like this:
1. Apply some body lotion to your pulse points immediately after you shower. The pulse points include the area behind the ears, wrists, temples, base of the throat, bend of the elbow, on your hairline, behind the knees and between the breasts (It can also be advantageous to use a body lotion that is part of a perfume set, or a similar scent, so that you are not layering competing fragrances).
2. After applying your body lotion or bath oil apply your perfume to those same areas while there is still some moisture to trap the smells into your skin.
3. Allow your fragrance to dry naturally just a bit before getting dressed so the fragrance doesnt rub off onto your clothing.
4. If you are using a stronger fragrance, an eau de parfum or a parfum, try employing the parfum only at your wrists and throat. It tends to last longer and may be a bit strong for your tastes.
5. Please try to avoid rubbing the scent into your skin, instead allow it to dry naturally so that you dont bruise the delicate notes inside the blend.
6. It is also important to remember not to keep your fine fragrances in an area that is drenched in sunlight, because the sunlight can damage the gentle notes of your fragrance.
7. Also, according to the experts, perfumes that have a light spray may evaporate easily; so one may, according to ones tastes, employ perfumes that are rich and slightly stronger.
